Newtown allows yoga, art installations, special events to ‘breathe new life’ into vineyards

NEWTOWN - A fledgling winery owned by an area couple is the latest vineyard in Connecticut to benefit from expanded state laws allowing private parties and special events on farmland to boost agribusiness. Aquila’s Nest Vineyards, a 40-acre winery west of Lake Zoar that celebrated its 100th day in business on Saturday, was given permission by Newtown’s land use board to host art installations, yoga meditations, food trucks and private parties up to 150 people.
